James William Stafford Jr., 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, James leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, and kindness that touched all who knew him.
Born on January 19, 1944, James proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard, embodying a spirit of dedication and duty. Later in life, he continued his service as the treasurer of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Joseph’s Conference, where his selflessness and commitment to helping others were widely admired.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Judith Stafford, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He was the proud and loving father of Kimberley Major, Janet Aitken, and Elizabeth Wiseman, and father-in-law to Pervis Major, Timothy Aitken, and Christopher Wiseman.
James adored his eleven grandchildren—Sienna, Emily, Leah, Kahli, Jimmy, Maddy, Kenny, Andrew, Seamus, Zeta, and Reef—who brought him immense joy and pride. He is also deeply mourned by his brother, James R. Stafford, whose bond with him was a source of strength and love.
Known for his servant’s heart and quick wit, James was cherished by his family and friends alike. He brought humor and wisdom to every conversation, and his generosity of spirit will be remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
A Funeral Mass celebrating James’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1200 SE 10th Street, Stuart, Florida. Following the service, he will be laid to rest with military honors at 3:00 p.m. at the South Florida National Cemetery for Veterans, 6501 FL-7, Wellington, FL.

James will be forever remembered as a man of faith, love, and service whose legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
