Shirley Westcott Singerle

Shirley A. Westcott of Stuart Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2024 with her children by her bedside. Shirley was born in Boston on January 7, 1935, the daughter of Marie l. Kelly and John A. Westcott. After living in Boston till age 12, Shirley and her family moved to Framingham, MA. She attended Framingham schools and graduated with the class of 1952, then went on to work in the Framingham library.

On November 26, 1955 Shirley married the boy next door, Robert Singerle, and moved to Ashland, MA where they started their family and had their first two children, Robin D'Angelo of Stuart, Florida and Jeffrey Singerle (deceased). Years later while living in Sufffern, NY., their daughter Joanne Singerle of Shafsbury, VT was born.

Shirley loved to read. She was the person in the family that everyone went to for a recommendation for a good book. Shirley was also a gifted painter and seamstress. Painting everything from puppy dogs to light houses. Her family and friends were the lucky recipients of her beautiful paintings and handmade creations.

Shirley and Bob retired to Stuart, FL and spent many happy hours at the Gazebo overlooking the inland waterway watching beautiful sunsets together until Bob passed away in September 2000. Shirley spent the next 24 years very active in the community and enjoyed having her children and grandchildren visit often.

Shirley is survived by her brothers, John (Jack) Westcott (Pauline) of Hopkington, MA, Paul Westcott (Lucretia) of Jacksonville FL, and Edward Westcott (Josephine) of Jackson, Ml. Shirley was predeceased by her sister Barbara Westcott Sousa and brother Mark Westcott.

Shirley also leaves her grandchildren, Christopher, Scott, Alec, Taylor, Ashley, Samantha, and Joseph. Also, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
