Sheila Elaine Teresa (Eggert) Donohue passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of January 11, 2025, in Stuart, Florida, due to complications from diabetes. She was 82 years old.
Sheila was born on January 25, 1942, in Ontario, Canada, while her father, Lt. Col. Russell Eggert, was serving as a training pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Her parents, Russell and Marjorie Eggert, instilled in her a sense of adventure and creativity that shaped her life. As the daughter of an Air Force officer, Sheila lived in many states during her childhood, including Massachusetts, Hawaii, Alaska, California, and Minnesota. She graduated from Vacaville High School in California in 1960 and often spoke fondly of her high school years.
In 1960, Sheila moved with her family to St. Paul, Minnesota, where she met Michael Hills Donohue. The two married in February 1962 and settled in St. Cloud, Minnesota, where they raised their three children. Sheila was a devoted mother who nurtured her children’s creativity and artistic talents. She had an extraordinary eye for beauty and brought artistry to all aspects of her life. She later channeled this talent into interior design and an antique-finding business specializing in architectural pieces.
After her divorce in 1982, Sheila moved to Tucson, Arizona, in 1985. There, she pursued a career as an interior designer and furniture salesperson while embracing the natural beauty of Arizona as part of her spiritual journey. She adored Hiking and spending time with her friends. She was always up for an adventure. In 2018, due to health challenges, Sheila moved to Morgantown, West Virginia then to Stuart, Florida, to live with her daughter Teresa and her family.
Sheila is survived by her three children: Teresa Anne Fanjul (Dr. Rafael James Fanjul Jr.) and their son Rafael; Michael Hills Donohue Jr. (Julie Donohue) and their children Whitney and Sean; and Amy Coleen Brown (Mark David Brown) and their sons Jacob and Isaac. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Bruce Eggert.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate Sheila’s life will be held on January 21, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1200 SE 10th St., Stuart, FL 34996.
Sheila will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and adventurous spirit. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
