Peter "Pete" J. Costello

Peter “Pete” J. Costello, 84, of Stuart, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2024, with his loving family by his side. 

He was born in Boston and grew up in Hamilton, MA. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Airforce. He worked as a bartender in the service industry for many years where he met his wife, Cynthia Pierce of Marblehead, MA., and later moved to Florida in 1971 to raise their family. His strong work ethic and motivation to provide for his family lead him to become a full time Maintenance Engineer while continuing to work part time in the service industry. Even after retirement he continued to work part time at Publix until 2018.

Life for Pete was not all work. He made time for the things he loved, his family and the ocean. He was an avid scuba diver and fisherman and he also enjoyed the open road on his motorcycle. He found much peace working in his yard and garden.

Pete is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cynthia (Pierce) Costello and three children: Drew and Karen Costello of Salem, MA, Wayne Costello of Rivera Beach, FL, and Kelly and Gregory Miller of Stuart, FL. Additionally he is survived by four grandchildren: Skyler SantaMaria, James Miller, Devon Costello and Ryan Costello. He is also survived by his younger brother, Frank Costello of Newburyport, MA. Pete’s son, William Scott Costello, predeceases him. 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 2100 SE Cove Road, Stuart, FL.
