Patricia Mary Gilio Osborne, 80, of Palm City, FL, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024, from cancer. She will be remembered for her vivacious personality, her spunk, and her love for her family, life-long friends and animals. Pat’s family urges those reading to please never begin smoking or to give up smoking/vaping.
Pat was born on June 3, 1943, to Nicoletta Iannello Gilio and Joseph Louis Gilio, in Queens, NY. She is survived by her brother, Joseph Louis Gilio, (Angela Carriero Gilio), two nieces, Laura Gilio Graze (Geoff Graze) and Annie Rosich (John Rosich) and eight nieces and nephews: Sawyer, Elena, Campbell, Hudson, Isla, Hunter, Chase, and Cole.
After Pat graduated from Calhoun High School in Merrick on Long Island, NY, she went on to study education at St. John’s University. She furthered her studies with a Master's from Columbia University.
After graduating with a degree in primary and secondary education, she began teaching at Deer Park School district starting in fifth grade with most of her outstanding teaching done in sixth grade, for a 35-year career.
Pat did not have any children of her own, choosing instead to have and house a litany of four-legged children through the years. She was highly active in pet rescue organizations such as the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast and Pet Helpers.
Pat was predeceased by both her parents and a beloved niece, Catherine Gilio. Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, an organization that was near and dear to Pat’s heart.
