In Loving Memory of Nicholas R. Dunyak
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas R. Dunyak of Jensen Beach, FL, formerly of Upper St Clair, PA who departed from this world on October 21, 2024, at the age of 86 following a brief battle with cancer. Born on August 25, 1938, in Donora, PA, Nick led a life full of intelligence, dedication, and love.
Nick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His unwavering commitment to his family and his community left a lasting impact on all who knew him. A man of integrity and compassion, whose thirst for knowledge was endless.
While attending Penn State University in State College, PA, Nick met the love of his life, Jacqueline. After graduating in 1960 with a degree in Business Administration, Nick served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. Following his service, he embarked on a long career in the steel industry, working in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Ohio, and Indiana managing numerous production facilities. Nick was not only a hero to his family but also a hero to many others. Shortly before retiring, he bravely neutralized a disgruntled, armed employee, saving the lives of several coworkers.
Nick's passions included traveling, reading, and discovering new beers. In 2002, he and Jacquie retired to Florida, escaping the cold winters of the North. Retirement gave him the opportunity to travel the world, often by cruise, his favorite mode of travel. Nick cherished these experiences, sharing them with his wife and friends, and exploring new cultures, cuisines, and landscapes.
He is survived by his beloved spouse of 62 years, Jacqueline Angel Dunyak; his son, Christopher James Dunyak, and his wife Christopher Anne of Haddonfield, NJ; his daughter, Lisa Beth Dunyak Dalton and her husband, Michael of Princeton, NJ; grandchildren, Talia and Jillian Dunyak, and Nicole, John, Kristina and Michael Dalton; his sister, Florence Gantt (Bob), brother, Norman (Kathy), and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends, especially the supportive community at The Princess condominium. His memory will be cherished by all.
A Mass will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 10:30 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 2555 NE Savannah Road, Jensen Beach, FL 34957. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The American Cancer Society or Treasure Coast Hospice in his honor.
As we mourn the loss of Nick Dunyak, we also celebrate a life well lived. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him, and his legacy will continue to inspire us.
May he rest in eternal peace.
