Muriel Anne Dickson, 90, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024, at her home with her family by her side.
Muriel, known by Anne to her friends and family, was born June 8, 1933, in Queens, NY to Joseph and Muriel (Schmitt) Cardinal. She met Thomas Dickson, the love of her life, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New York; they were married in 1954. Thomas passed away on September 6, 2019.
Muriel was a teacher for the Thousand Oaks School District where she was also the high school’s swim coach. She was an active member of the Moorpark Women’s Fortnightly Bernadette Guild and the Seville Library Book Club. Muriel also volunteered in the Each One Teach One program helping children to learn to read and was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians in Seville, Ohio.
Muriel will be deeply missed by her children and their spouses; Gary and Leora, Kevin and Kathy, Judy and Dan, Eric and Veronica, and David and Malitta, 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her brother Raymond Cardinal. Muriel was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Thomas, her brothers Robert and Donald Cardinal, and granddaughter Lori Dickson.
Visitation will be held on Friday January 19th, 2024, from 12-1 PM, with a Memorial Mass to follow at 1:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home (Port St Lucie Florida, 714 SE Port St. Lucie, Blvd., Port St. Lucie, FL). In the Spring of 2024 (date to be announced) a celebration of life will be held at Our Lady of Help of Christians in Seville Ohio, and burial service will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband Thomas.
