Martin Robert Drummond

Born on March 4, 1956 - Finished his race on June 28, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Martin Drummond, who left us on Friday, June 28, at the age of 68. Martin was a loving husband, dedicated father, cherished Papa, loving brother, beacon of hope, and steadfast friend, always ready to lend a helping hand. He lived a life anchored in faith, always putting others before himself and offering a listening ear or comforting word to anyone in need. Martin's legacy is one of selfless love and compassion, shaped by his unwavering dedication to The Lord.

Born on March 4, 1956, in Bloomington, IN, Martin grew up in his hometown and attended Indiana University, where he studied both Journalism and Business. While pursuing a career as a reporter, he felt a call to pastoral ministry and, upon graduation, began graduate studies at Cincinnati Seminary. Martin dedicated the rest of his life to Kingdom work. As an associate pastor and later senior pastor with five congregations, he led countless hearts to Christ, often while maintaining bi-vocational roles in the business world.

In 2016, Martin returned to journalism vocationally which allowed him to connect with and advocate for small business owners in the community. He was best known for meeting people where they were, making each individual feel seen and valued. Whether he was asking about their families or how he could be praying for them, his genuine love for others was palpable.

He loved spending time on the water with his family; enjoying God’s creation through exploring sandbars, reefs or Stuart’s spoil islands with his grandchildren. He was also an avid boater, diver, lobster hunter, shell collector and beach comber. His enthusiasm for the ocean was shared by his wife Lori. The two enjoyed many adventures together whether it be a sunset walk on the beach or scuba diving in Hawaii.

Martin was preceded in death by his parents Phyllis and George Drummond. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lori Drummond, daughters Jessica Cornett (Dave) of Stuart, FL, Melissa Cook (Sullivan) of Stuart, FL, and step-children Jennifer Hassett (Brian) of Leeds, AL, Robert Moshier (Karin) of McMinnville, OR, and Lawrence Moshier of McMinnville, OR. One of Martin’s greatest joys was his 11 grandchildren: Isabel, Claire, Jillian, Liam, Mae, Louisa, Emily, Mark, Turner, Ezra, and Pax. He is also survived by his sister Kathee Wheeler (David), Dan Drummond (Jacquie), and Jim Drummond (Paula).

Martin will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
