Joy Ward Johnson died on July 25 at the age of 86. Joy was born in Arcadia FL on April 5, 1938. She was the 4th of 7 children born to Mellie May Jones and Guydice Rivers Ward. She is survived by her children Frank Cyrus Alderman IV, Lisa Alderman Holland, Daniel Johnson Jr., Debbie Johnson and Ted Johnson, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Jane Ward Dever of Ft Myers.
Joy lived much of her life in Ft Myers but met Dan Johnson in 1988 and began a new life in Highlands NC where they owned the Highlands House of Coffee. They lived there and Dillard GA until 2021 when they moved to Jensen Beach FL to be close to family. Joy was a loving, capable woman who could do anything she set her mind to. You didn’t dare stand in her way. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Joy was a loyal friend. She loved to talk about her group of friends from Ft Myers High school that got together every year for a week to laugh and play dominoes.
Any donations can be made to Joys beloved church in the mountains, Rabin Gap Presbyterian Church in Dillard GA. Home | rabungappresbyterian.
