Linda Helene Jones, 82, of Stuart, FL went to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, February 21, 2025, at home with her family by her side.
Linda Tinklepaugh grew up in Chenango Bridge, NY and was married to Barrett on July 15, 1961, where they started their life together in a tiny pink trailer behind her father-in-law’s soft ice cream stand, Jones’ Humdinger.
Linda and her husband Barrett raised their two children in Central New York. Linda’s life was full as a stay-at-home mother, an Avon lady, and an indispensable support for her husband as he rose through the ranks to become a bank executive at Key Bank. She also volunteered for many years at community hospitals in both Syracuse, NY and Stuart, FL, which gave her great joy. God blessed their efforts greatly over the years, allowing Barrett and Linda to grow far beyond their humble roots, but they both remained hard working and generous no matter their station in life.
Retirement brought Linda and Barrett to the Treasure Coast, where they thrived in the Mariner Sands community, blessed with many friends who became like family. Linda enjoyed the fellowship they found on the golf course, in the chapel at Mariner Sands, and through their volunteerism. She and Barrett were fortunate to travel the world in good health, seeing many amazing places and creating many wonderful memories. Together with Barrett, Linda lived her life fully with faith, family, and friends as her guiding priorities.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Barrett Jones, her parents Buel and Mildred (Brady) Tinklepaugh, her brother David Tinklepaugh, and her many aunts and uncles.
She leaves behind her two children: daughter Trenna (Jones) Coghan of Lusby, MD and son Chris Jones and wife Sandy of Syracuse, NY, her five grandchildren and their spouses: Chelsea and Joel Rhodes of Lebanon, OH, Benjamin Coghan of Austin, TX, Jacob and Shelby Coghan of Lusby, MD, Josh Jones and Kayla Jones, both of Syracuse, NY, and her three great-grandchildren: Samuel (5), Nathanael (3), and Maggie Jane (11 mo). She also leaves behind three nieces and five nephews. Her legacy as a loving mother, aunt and grandmother is deeply imprinted in all of their hearts.
A memorial service will be held at Mariner Sands Chapel on Saturday, March 29 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow. All friends and family are welcome. 6500 SE Congressional Way, Stuart, FL.
