Barbara R. Corvino

Barbara Ruth Corvino, of Port St. Lucie, passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2025, at the age of 95. A dedicated wife, devoted mother, and grandmother, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Ralph, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories, and her younger brother Fred. Barbara is survived by her children: John and his wife Franci, Roy, Chris, Barbara and her husband Michael, and Ralph and his wife Cindi, as well as, 4 grandchildren Samantha, Jennifer, Kelsey, and Tessa, and 4 great-grandchildren Scarlett, Logan, Mackenzie, and Addison who brought her endless joy. Barbara lived an energetic life marked by a love for her family, humor, and an unwavering loyalty to her volunteer causes and community.

Born on November 22, 1929, in Mount Vernon, New York to Siegfred and Ella Remson, Barbara regaled us with stories of summers spent at her Aunt's farm in upstate NY and was extremely proud of her years of pairs competition roller skating. She met Ralph Anthony Corvino and they married on October 4, 1953. Together, they raised a family of five children in Rockland County, New York. The couple moved to New Jersey where Barbara used her passion for interior design to result in a constant stream of house projects. Tiring of the winter snow after Ralph's passing, Barbara relocated to Port St. Lucie, Florida in 2010.

Early in their marriage Barbara joined a local women’s club and became a life-long dedicated volunteer for the General Federation of Women's Clubs — for almost 60 years! She proudly served as the President of the New Jersey State Federation and held various roles as Vice President and Chair of numerous committees both in New York and New Jersey. Upon moving to Florida, Barbara joined the GFWC Port St. Lucie Woman’s Club where she served on many committees and was in club leadership. She made many lifelong wonderful friends through her activities and enjoyed her participation with the organization.

An arts and crafts enthusiast, Barbara was passionate about creating ceramics, photography, and painting. Her crafts were regularly displayed at annual fundraising events, art competitions, meetings, and in her home. She also hosted a ceramics teaching studio for many years. Barbara loved Christmas and over the course of 20 years, she created a Christmas Village of ceramic houses which was donated to the Port St. Lucie Community Center in 2019 and is displayed annually.

Barbara enjoyed road trips and visiting family. Home always held an important place, and she cherished holiday get-togethers and just gathering at her house with family and friends around. Her sense of pride, strong work ethic, can-do attitude, and creativity have been infused in all her children and grandchildren.

Her legacy of artistic passion, service, and devotion to family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
